The prices here are too outrageous to comment on…the book is a must have and the selective information superlative…. well worth getting the HANDBOOK.

Every potter will have to have this handbook

This is Cushing’s collection of articles and papers concerning respective areas of ceramics that he compiled for the duration of his galore years of teaching. Every potter ought to have this but not at these prices! You may find his studio address and email online without apparent effort and it hasn’t changed in the last five or more years – the address in the other review is correct. He doesn’t trade it at the pharmacy anymore and the price has gone up. Send him $25 plus $3 S&H and he or his wife will send it to you. There is from time to time an extra charge for tax depending on which state you live in.

This is an magnificent resource packed with selective information . It holds sufficient info to make anybody think it is well worth the price! As a newbie to the Pottery making world I am excessively affected emotionally by the wealth of data in this volume. Although a great deal of of the selective information is very technical , problably for a more innovative student, I am looking forward to learning through doing and growing in my skills. The book chapters are laid out well with clay bodies and raw materials being in particular helpful. There is even data on testing the absorbtion and C/B value. The dissimilar types of firing are also discussed at great length. THe chapter on glazes and glaze establishments has a lot of discussions on formulas and mutual colors. as well as a triaxial blend chart,The back of the book has glaze recipes for each temperature range. The front of the book has a bibliography of respective books used in the writing of this book that may be used for furthur in depth study.
